George II Period carved Mahogany side chair

A George II carved Mahogany side chair made from Cuban mahogany. The chair, with a boldly carved back and drop in seat and superb quality carved cabriole legs that have generous claw and ball feet. From the design of the back, the chair appears that it could be Irish in origin. The detail and excellent quality of the carving makes this stand alone with good lines. The colour and patination is super and retains that country house look which makes it a particularly good example of an 18th century chair.
