Regency period Tortoiseshell Tea Caddy

Regency Tea Caddy with a Pagoda top and wonderfully figured tortoiseshell standing on four agua nut feet. The panels of this caddy are separated by fine silver stringing, with a silver escutcheon and vacant initial plate on top. (Tagua is a seed grown from a palm tree and is also known as a vegetable ivory due to its hardness and colour). The interior two compartments with matching tortoiseshell lids and turned bone handles comprise the interior of this Regency caddy. The interior shows signs of the original lining in each compartment.
